Fruitful Outreach
Barbara Ellis, chair of the Berkeley chapter of NOW, invited WAGE to send a representative
to speak. At the February NOW meeting, held at Mama Bears Bookshop on
Telegraph Avenue, Anne
MacLachlan told a cordial and attentive audience about WAGE.
As a result one woman joined WAGE, several others volunteered
their e-mail addresses for the call-up list to attend local trials, and an
article about WAGE will appear in NOW's spring newsletter. In addition,
one of the Mama Bears partners volunteered to let WAGE leave materials in
the store and will advertise our April general meeting.
Such a positive outcome suggests that WAGE should engage more
actively with other women's groups and perhaps combine forces around
specific issues for more effective publicity and lobbying.
