Good News:
According to the Committee for Equality of Women
at Harvard, whose statistics are featured in an article in the June,
1997, issue of WorkingWoman by John Davidson, the percentage of
women in the tenured faculty of major universities in 1994 ranged
from 9.4% at Yale and 10.8% at Harvard to 14.9% at Michigan and
Stanford and 19% at Brown. Ellen Switkes, UC Assistant Vice
President for Academic Advancement, provided WAGE with a report
that gives the 1995 figure as 19.4% women at UC.
