Broyles-Gonzalez Honored at White House
President Clinton, First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, and other dignitaries honored
Professor Yolanda Broyles-Gonzalez of UC Santa Barbara on June 10, 1998, at a White House ceremony marking the thirty-fifth anniversary of the Equal Pay Act.
Broyles-Gonzalez's historic 1996 lawsuit challenged the unequal pay of women professors at the University of California. The settlement, finalized in October 1997, featured a permanent injunction that placed UC discriminatory actions under permanent court scrutiny and custody.
Vice President Al Gore expressed his thanks to her for "struggling for full economic equality for women in the USA"
Broyles-Gonzalez serves on the WAGE Governing Council.
